• Cooking the preparation of our unique recipes in our small production kitchen. Ingredients are pre-weighed for the cook and are presented in order of addition to the cooking vessel. Strictly following our cooking instructions, prepare each batch adhering to food hygiene principles at all times. Undertake taste and quality assessment of all products.
• Food Preparation assist with preparation of the ingredients whilst cooking.
• Washing Up & Cleaning the washing up of utensils and equipment – where possible in between the cooking stages or otherwise at the end of a prepared batch. Responsible for cleaning the kitchen at the end of the day.
• Documentation & Logging of data to be meticulous in recording the necessary data for our records such as temperature at potting off and yield.
• Potting Off with assistance pot off the finished product, ensuring that they are of the correct weight, temperature and are sealed.
• New Food Development to be actively involved in the development of new recipes and the scaling up of these recipes to suit our cooking methods.
• For the right candidate, the potential to deputise for the production manager in their absence to coordinate the small production team ensuring production targets are met.

Hours:

We are looking for a part time cook and roughly 3 days a week.  This will increase to 4-5 days as additional contracts are secured.   The following schedule is a guide:

Main duties are programming, setting and operating a CNC mill to include programme file maintenance and all associated requirements and to provide initial assessment of manufacturing process where necessary.

Other duties to include:

• Various tooling.
• Soft - gauging.
• Carrying out all housekeeping duties.
• Maintaining a safe working environment.

Hours: 7.00am -15.30pm (Monday to Friday)

Overtime: 15.30pm-17.30pm (Monday to Friday and occasional Saturdays) payable at time and a half.

Holiday: 4 weeks pa and all Bank Holidays. After 5 years continuous service, this increases to 5 weeks.

Sick pay: Up to 4 weeks pa (eligible after 6 months)

Pension: 4% contribution matched by company (eligible after 6 months)

Healthcare: Free membership to company scheme (eligible after 12 months)

Agency workers make up about 4% of the UK workforce and the new regulations - set to come into force in October – will give agency workers the same rights on basic working and employment conditions as those in equivalent permanent jobs. The regulations will apply to most workers who are provided by an agency to a hiring company
Temporary agency labour is a vital part of an organisations flexibility and productivity levels. They are used across a wide and varying spectrum of industry sectors and provide an effective strategy for accommodating peaks and troughs.
Some rights will apply from day one of employment, such as access to childcare, canteens, transport and job vacancies. Other rights, such as pay and some benefits will apply after the agency worker has been in the same job for 12 weeks, whether full or part time.
The impact of the regulations will vary across industries, Job sectors such as construction; education and healthcare are likely to face some of the biggest challenges.
Organisations should carry out an assessment of their agency worker use, looking at factors such as the normal length of assignments to see how often the 12 week qualifying period will be met. They should also review their agency workers’ roles to see if there are comparable employee posts, and work out whether the agency worker is paid a lower rate than the comparable employee.

I had specified the sort of person I needed and Kirk managed to find me that person.  The initial request was for one week but the role has extended and we are now into week 4 and a second temp.  She is even better than the first one and we’re delighted.  I have no idea how much longer I am going to need a temp for but Red Berry are amenable to me being vague and only in a position to work from week to week which makes my life so much easier.

There is now a possibility of needing a permanent, part-time employee in a different role and of course my first contact was with Red Berry Recruitment.  They have proven that they understand my business and the type of person that fits in here so I am sure they will be as successful in finding me a permanent candidate as they have been at finding me a temporary one.

Winners of the 2009 Somerset Chamber of Commerce “Business of the Year Awards” attribute some of their success to membership of a breakfast networking group.

Helen Lacey MD of Red Berry Recruitment and Sandra Pennyfather MD of Driving Ambition both received accolades at the Somerset Chamber of Commerce Business Awards.  Both business ladies are members of the Wells breakfast networking group BNI and meet every Thursday morning for breakfast with around 20 other local business owners.  Helen, whose company won the “Mendip New Business of the Year” award, only started her business three years ago. “Networking is a key part of my business success” says Helen “I go to many networking events and it is a key part of my business strategy. I regularly get introduced to new companies and contacts as part of my networking”. Red Berry retained the “Mendip New Business of the Year” award having also won it in 2008! Red Berry also won “Most Promising New Business for the South West” and went to London for the Nationals Awards at the end of November.

Over this period, Red Berry have proven to be competitive and provide a high level of service.

The office staff are always friendly and upbeat and appreciate that we work in a busy production related environment where every minute counts.

When the icy weather kicked in, Lesley Rowan, the Shepton Mallets Girls under 12’s football team coach, wondered if Red Berry Recruitment would like to sponsor some hats and gloves.
