Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

• Degree or HND in Microbiology or equivalent preferred, however experience will be taken into account.

Main Accountabilities:

• To ensure that training protocols are suitably implemented within the laboratory to provide a balanced (but increasing) level of competency within all analytical areas.
• To liaise with and to assist in providing sound Microbiological advise to clients where the query falls within the scope and experience of your role and experience.
• To take clear and accurate messages where more experienced help is needed.
• To ensure and maintain confidentiality of all work at all times.
• To ensure compliance with all the internal and external quality systems, particularly including the IQC and EQA PT schemes.

Each Christmas Red Berry Recruitment chooses a charity to support and help through difficult times. In the past we have supported Banardo’s, St Margaret’s Hospice, Brainwave and Happy Landings.

This year we have chosen a Somerset based charity that offer a supportive service to women and children in abusive relationships. Our chosen charity provides shelter, nourishment, housing and all the support they need to get them back onto their feet.

I recently went to visit one of the houses and the support workers were over joyed to hear that Red Berry wanted to help. In order to support this charity, we would be delighted if you could help us to collect items that will help to carry on supporting these women and children, who sometimes have to flee in the middle of the night with no extra clothes or money.

Temporary agency labour is a vital part of an organisations flexibility and productivity levels. They are used across a wide and varying spectrum of industry sectors and provide an effective strategy for accommodating peaks and troughs.
Some rights will apply from day one of employment, such as access to childcare, canteens, transport and job vacancies. Other rights, such as pay and some benefits will apply after the agency worker has been in the same job for 12 weeks, whether full or part time.
The impact of the regulations will vary across industries, Job sectors such as construction; education and healthcare are likely to face some of the biggest challenges.
Organisations should carry out an assessment of their agency worker use, looking at factors such as the normal length of assignments to see how often the 12 week qualifying period will be met. They should also review their agency workers’ roles to see if there are comparable employee posts, and work out whether the agency worker is paid a lower rate than the comparable employee.

I had specified the sort of person I needed and Kirk managed to find me that person.  The initial request was for one week but the role has extended and we are now into week 4 and a second temp.  She is even better than the first one and we’re delighted.  I have no idea how much longer I am going to need a temp for but Red Berry are amenable to me being vague and only in a position to work from week to week which makes my life so much easier.

There is now a possibility of needing a permanent, part-time employee in a different role and of course my first contact was with Red Berry Recruitment.  They have proven that they understand my business and the type of person that fits in here so I am sure they will be as successful in finding me a permanent candidate as they have been at finding me a temporary one.

Winners of the 2009 Somerset Chamber of Commerce “Business of the Year Awards” attribute some of their success to membership of a breakfast networking group.

Helen Lacey MD of Red Berry Recruitment and Sandra Pennyfather MD of Driving Ambition both received accolades at the Somerset Chamber of Commerce Business Awards.  Both business ladies are members of the Wells breakfast networking group BNI and meet every Thursday morning for breakfast with around 20 other local business owners.  Helen, whose company won the “Mendip New Business of the Year” award, only started her business three years ago. “Networking is a key part of my business success” says Helen “I go to many networking events and it is a key part of my business strategy. I regularly get introduced to new companies and contacts as part of my networking”. Red Berry retained the “Mendip New Business of the Year” award having also won it in 2008! Red Berry also won “Most Promising New Business for the South West” and went to London for the Nationals Awards at the end of November.

Over this period, Red Berry have proven to be competitive and provide a high level of service.

The office staff are always friendly and upbeat and appreciate that we work in a busy production related environment where every minute counts.
