Bank of England Update Event

28th September 2017

Bank of England Update Event

An impressive selection of local business people attended this year’s Bank of England Update, which was held on 5 September, at the Cooper Associates County Ground in Taunton.

The breakfast event was held jointly by Somerset Chamber of Commerce, the Somerset Branch of the Institute of Directors and the Bank of England. The annual economic update is always a popular event and 2017 proved to be no different with approximately 60 people in attendance.

Geoff Harding, The Bank of England’s Deputy Agent for the South West, gave a fascinating insight into the current economic situation. Geoff also presented the bank’s views on the outlook and prospects for the UK economy for the next 2 – 3 years. Geoff covered a wide range of topics including consumer spending, employments rates, and inflation.

Our Managing Director and Somerset Chamber Board Director Helen Lacey said, “The Bank of England Update was a really enjoyable morning, very informative and useful. We had a great turn-out with a number of new delegates joining us for the first time, and we’ve received some very positive feedback about the event overall.”
