New members join Yarlington Housing Group Board

A local housing group has recently appointed new Board members to assist in overseeing the activities of both its core business and subsidiary companies.

Six new appointments have been made across the Boards of Yarlington Housing Group, Yarlington Homes and Inspired to Achieve.

Those appointed bring with them a range of skills, knowledge and experience from across various business disciplines and industries enabling them to offer expert advice and strategic direction to ensure that Yarlington Housing Group, Yarlington Homes and Inspired to Achieve continue to grow and meet their objectives in the future.

Michael Stancombe, Joanna Makinson and Alex Burghart all join the Yarlington Housing Group Board.

Real estate lawyer, Michael Stancombe, who worked as a Partner at Hogan Lovells International LLP for over 30 years is a specialist in development, financing and investment and joins the Yarlington Housing Group Board. He is Vice-Chair of the Sentinel Housing Group and also a Board Member of Yarlington Homes Ltd.

 Joanna Makinson has a wealth of financial experience having worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers as Audit Manager and United Communities as the Finance Director and Company Secretary. More recently Joanna has been appointed as the Finance and Commercial Director at Bristol Community Health. Joanna has also joined the Yarlington Homes Ltd Board.  

A former school teacher, Alex Burghart is now the Director of Policy at the Centre for Social Justice. He has a great deal of experience in social policy and research, having led reports on a range of topics such as social housing and child protection. Alex has also been appointed as a Board Member of Social Enterprise, Inspired to Achieve.

Along with Michael and Joanna, Stephen Dunhill will be joining the Yarlington Homes Ltd Board, which develops homes for outright sale to help cross-subsidise Yarlington Housing Group’s affordable homes development. Stephen brings with him a wealth of experience from the housing sector and works as a Housing Development Consultant having recently retired as Development Director at Spectrum Housing Group.

Inspired to Achieve (i2a), who joined the Yarlington group in October 2014, help residents to access work, training or volunteering opportunities. The i2a Board now consists of six Directors after the appointment of Alex Burghart, Helen Lacey and Andy Skarzynski.  

Helen is founder and Managing Director of Red Berry Recruitment, an award winning recruitment agency. With over 16 years’ experience in the recruitment sector she will be able to offer guidance and support to the i2a Board. Helen was recently appointed Chair of the Somerset IOD and has been a Board Director of the Somerset Chamber of Commerce since 2014.

Andy is Head of Marketing at Mole Valley and brings to the Board significant experience in marketing, sales, e-commerce and communications. He has gained experience across a wide range of sectors such as corporate, advertising, not-for-profit and online start-ups and his wealth of experience will be an asset to the i2a Board.
