Referral Business

Referral Business

The giving and receiving of referrals has been around for years. You could call it a ‘gentleman’s handshake’ where you agree to do business without a contract. You might have even heard it called ‘business on the golf course’.

Whatever you might know it as, referral is about recommending someone/some business to another predominantly because you have used their business or services first hand and can recommend them to do an excellent job or possibly because a close friend or contact has used them and they would recommend, so you feel confident to be able to introduce.

Referral business is about helping others and not expecting anything in return. If you do, then great, but you should not expect to give a referral on the basis you expect a return gesture

Needless to say return gestures do happen but again, not always from people you expect or the person you gave the original referral to.

Referral business is based on trust and relationship giving. It is about building a network, a group of contacts that you would happily refer to other people and services too. It’s as simple as that!
