I am currently recruiting on behalf of my client for an experienced Corporate Solicitor/Associate to work for a highly regarded firm of solicitors, with multiple offices based around Somerset. The firm has developed a great reputation as a friendly and supportive employer and are looking for a motivated Solicitor with a real desire to grow a department with the help and support of the firm.

This role would suit a Solicitor who can demonstrate solid experience of working independently on a diverse range of corporate transactional work for individuals, partnerships and companies.

The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, be commercially aware and will take an active role in business development activities with the willingness to expand into new areas of work.

Key responsibilities:

  • Undertake company/commercial work which may include drafting, reviewing and negotiating a varied range of agreements including partnership/shareholders, agency, distribution and loans, changes to company constitutions, drafting terms and conditions, sales and purchases (both share and assets), debentures, director guarantees and commercial contracts
  • Franchises
  • Joint ventures
  • Company refinancing
  • Provide effective and decisive action to the firm’s business and private clients; demonstrating a sound understanding and practical application of the law
  • Ensure client matters are progressed in an effective way and files are kept in good order
  • Manage a varied caseload to completion whilst being flexible to changing demands
  • Establish a good working relationship with commercial colleagues; assisting with department workflow when required
  • Operate a successful networking strategy; marketing yourself, the department and the firm as a whole
  • Build client relationships by sharing the firm’s ethos of providing exceptional client care

Person specification:

  • 3 years post-qualified experience (though strong candidates without this may be considered)
  • Current practical knowledge of the law relating to all legal aspects of corporate work
  • Able to provide clear and accurate legal advice
  • Ability to cultivate good working relationships with clients
  • A high level of commitment, communication and interpersonal skills
  • A professional approach to duties with integrity and respect for confidentiality.
  • Able to travel freely between other local offices, using own transport
