We are looking for a permanent  Estates Team Member/ Driver (Residential) for a client based Nr Yeovil. £ 18,360




The post holder will be a key member of the Estates Team and will participate in the delivery of a comprehensive maintenance, cleaning and portering service across the school campus. The post holder will also participate in the delivery of the school’s home to school mini bus service on a daily basis during term times.

This position is designated as residential and the post holder will be required to reside in the accommodation provided for the better performance of their duties.





To collect pupils from and return them to pre-arranged pick up/drop off points, mornings and afternoons.

To undertake occasional additional driving duties as required

To carry out daily vehicle checks, and cleaning of the mini bus.



To clean a prescribed area of the school buildings in accordance with the schools cleaning specification on a daily basis.

To assist in the upkeep of the schools grounds including care of hard surface areas, flower beds and seasonal leaf clearance.

To assist in the delivery of a comprehensive portering service to include the setting up of both internal and external events.

To participate in a range of “first line” building maintenance tasks and larger projects including decorating.

Participate in the delivery of a range of statutory compliancy checks including Fire alarm and emergency lighting testing.


Participate in the delivery of the school’s out of hours “on call” service on a rota basis including all aspects of site security, and liaising with the Fire service and other external organisations as required.

No job description can fully cover all aspects of a role and consequently the responsibilities are likely to change and evolve over a period of time.





  • The post holder must be in possession of a valid full UK driving licence with no more than three points
  • Due to Mini Bus driving requirements the post holder will have reached a minimum 25 years of age at their last birthday.
  • The post holder must be prepared to undertake the appropriate training to enable them to drive vehicles listed under the D1 category. This training will be provided by the school if necessary.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure, to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • An energetic and flexible approach to work to accommodate peaks in workload including, on occasions,  the working of evenings or weekends for which time off in lieu will be applicable.
  • The post holder will be a positive and strong team player who can also act on their own initiative


First Aid at work qualified

      D1 category licence holder




40 hours per week excluding half an hour unpaid lunch break per day. Some weekend, early morning and evening work may be required; overtime is not payable but time in lieu, as agreed with the Estate Manager/ Estate Supervisor, may be taken.

During Term Time, the working day will be worked in two shifts. Mornings and afternoons/early evenings. During School holidays a straight through shift of 8 hours may be worked in general (excluding a 30 minute unpaid lunch break).




20 days per year plus Bank Holidays.  Where a Bank Holiday falls within the school term, it is a normal working day for which a day in lieu is given.

Due to the nature of this particular role there is a requirement that the majority of the holiday entitlement will be taken during the school holiday periods, however up to a maximum of five days per annum may be taken during term time in agreement with the Estate Manager/Estate Supervisor.


Rate of Pay: £18,360 which includes an on call allowance of £850 for a 1 in 3 commitment
