Becoming A Berry

As you may or not know, the staff here at Red Berry Recruitment are known as Berries. This nickname has been used since the day we first started in 2007 and was given to us by our MD and Owner Helen Lacey.

My first bite of the Berry

I got a call from Rachael Haynes, the HR and Operations Director, inviting me in for an interview for the role at the Yeovil office. A few days later I came in and nervously sat waiting to meet Rae and thinking to myself “I’m not sure I’m cut out for an interview with a Director” – how wrong I could have been!

The interview went so quickly and was more like talking with an old familiar friend and not an interview. When leaving the interview and walking back to my car and all I could think was “I want to be a Berry!!”

Becoming a Berry

A few days later I got a call from Rae – I got the job!!! I started my role here at Red Berry on the 28th November 2018 and I am the Administrator/Resourcer for the Yeovil office. The training is ongoing and there is always so much help and support when and if needed. Everyday really is a school day here, there is so much to learn from each other and people are more than willing to show you.

What it means to be a Berry

We have 10 commandments here at Red Berry Recruitment for being a member of staff:

We as Berries try and live by these every day. This is with each other, with clients and with candidates. There are some days that test these, but we always pull together and make sure we stand together.

We are a very close team and are more like a little family across all our four offices.  I know this is cliché and maybe even a little cringeworthily but we are!

To be a close team you have to be able to act like a family, in a way. You need to be able to respect each other and be there for one another. Working in the recruitment industry is hard work and very fast paced, but it is also so very rewarding.
