Christmas Charity Collections

7th December 2017

Christmas Charity Collections

Here at Red Berry Recruitment we are extremely proud of the charity work we do every year in the lead up to the festive period.

Each of the three Somerset-based offices – Shepton Mallet, Yeovil and Bridgwater – choose a local charity that helps out those in need over Christmas. The charities tell us what they are collecting, be it clothes, food or drinks, and the office puts out a collection box. We actively encourage our staff to donate, as well as welcoming anything that clients or candidates are able to give.

Before Christmas, the items in these boxes are then given to the chosen charity to distribute. The charities offer the donations to those less fortunate.

Our Shepton Mallet office has chosen to help the local food bank run by The Salvation Army this year. The Bridgwater office is collecting for Taunton Association for the Homeless, whilst Yeovil are collecting for Christians Against Poverty.

We thought we would use this blog as an opportunity to help raise awareness about these charities and what they do.

The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army is a multi-national charity, with shops in 128 countries worldwide. Its founders, Catherine and William Booth, sought to bring salvation (hence the name) to the poor, destitute and hungry. As well as its many shops, it also operates shelters for the homeless and disaster relief and humanitarian aid for developing countries. We are delighted to be supporting the Shepton branch of The Salvation Army as they gather tinned food, seasonal chocolates and warm drinks for poor or homeless people in the area.

Taunton Association for the Homeless

The Taunton Association for the Homeless was created by members of the community out of concern over the growing number of homeless people in the town. It has now grown into Somerset’s largest charitable organisation supporting homeless people and those at risk of homelessness.  Their purpose is to house, assist, and support and empower homeless people in Somerset, maximising their potential and promoting independence, to ensure that the most vulnerable in the community are able to sustain their homes. Our Bridgwater office a very proud to be supporting such a worthy cause, asking for donations of sleeping bags and blankets, as well as food and money/vouchers.

Christians Against Poverty

Christians Against Poverty exist to help people being held hostage by debt and poverty. Through their services, which are all run through local churches, they aim to tackle poverty head on, helping people to feed their children, make their way out of debt and heat their homes during winter and generally free themselves from the grip of poverty. They are a multi-national charity, with … working in New Zealand, Australia and Canada. Their vision is to bring freedom and good news to people in every community through 1,000 CAP projects by 2021. We are pleased to be accepting donations for them in our Yeovil office, asking for various food and drink items.

Our Yeovil collection closes tomorrow (8th December 2017), with our Shepton Mallet and Bridgwater collections closing on 15th December. If you are able to help in any way, please bring what you can into the relevant office.
