Collaborating With Others

Collaborating With Others

“Why should I collaborate with someone else if it’s not going to make me any money?”

A lot of businesses think this way, but is it the right mind-set?

Here at Red Berry Recruitment we definitely don’t think it is. We’re are always keen to work with other local businesses where we can.

So why do it?

Small businesses supporting each other is vital for the economy. Especially in a county like Somerset, businesses need to support each other to help growth. Obviously from a recruitment point of view, growing business is great for us. But this is about so much more than that.

Collaborating with other businesses is not always about making money. Many managers or business owners get a real feel-good factor about working with other businesses. It could be collaborating to raise money for charity. Maybe it’s putting on an event to bring other businesses together. Whatever it is, there is satisfaction to be gained.

How does it come about?

Connecting with other businesses will always be beneficial. Meeting people and building up relationships is the starting point. This will usually come through networking. From there, you will know more about each other’s businesses – giving you an insight into how you could help them.

Here at Red Berry Recruitment, we have collaborated with three other brilliant local businesses – New Leaf Life Design, Sedgemoor FM and YMCA Somerset Coast – to put on Bridgwater’s Breakfast Club. This is a monthly event in which businesspeople are able to meet and network over breakfast. They then listen to a guest speaker, on a different topic each month.

Since its October inception, we’ve already had lots of success stories. Attendees have told us of how they’ve met other businesses at the event and are now working together on projects. For us, as organisers, this is exactly what we wanted to happen when we set it up. We get a thrill out of seeing those businesses being able to help each other.

Another way of collaborating comes through supporting charity. This is something we are very keen on. The latest collaboration we are working on is with School In A Bag and Stokes Partners Solicitors. We’ve got a great event lined up in October to raise money for the great work School In A Bag do. You can find out more about the Masquerade Ball here. This form of collaboration is obviously beneficial – raising money for amazing causes. Hopefully you can have fun at the same time!

So, why not try it?

So if you haven’t thought about collaborating, why not try it? In rural communities like Somerset, it’s so important the businesses help each other out and support one another. There are so many great networking events that you can attend to meet people. Check out our upcoming Bridgwater’s Breakfast Club in July with Debbie Morris as our guest speaker. Or why not try Somerset Chamber, who put on lots of great meetings.

Once you start to see the benefits of collaborating, we’re sure you won’t look back!
