Looking Back At 2019

Looking Back At 2019

2019 has been an interesting year. From being finalists for numerous awards, to launch our new Older Generation campaign to merging with a national recruitment company, it’s been quite some year.

In January we started the year on a positive high, told that the FSB had chosen us as a finalist in the Community Investment Award. In February Sam Pardey (our Marketing Executive) and I went to meet Theo Paphitis, as Small Business Sunday winners.

The Older Generation campaign that we launched got us some good momentum, and we were finalists at the Sedgemoor Awards for the People’s Choice and Best Employer awards. What a night that was!

We collected Easter Eggs for the Rainbow Trust charity in April, continued to host the Bridgwater Breakfast Club each month – which is now in its 3rd year – and I was asked by the charity SWEDA to be one of their Ambassadors, which I was delighted to say yes to.

I have been on BBC Somerset a few times this year doing the paper reviews on The Breakfast Show. We had the delight of sponsoring Max Waller – a Somerset County Cricket Club player – and attending all the T20 matches and some of the white ball cricket.

Networking events, Balls and Black-Tie events have been attended in abundance and again we collected for two food bank charities to help with the Christmas demands. And in November I was appointed as the New Chair for Somerset Chamber!

Joint Venture

However, the biggest piece of news was the merging of my company Red Berry Recruitment Ltd with the National Recruiter: HR GO plc. After months of discussions and negotiations I sold 51% of my company to the National agency. We merged the Bridgwater office with theirs and sadly closed Cardiff. However, the Shepton Mallet and Yeovil branches are still going strong!!

We are 6 months into the JV now, things are settling down and we are enjoying being part of what a bigger organisation can offer. The team are settled, clients and candidates seem happy and we are looking forward to what 2020 has in store for us.
